Final Blog...

Here are the deliverables for the U-Theatre

1) Floorplans of all levels of U-Theatre and your original lobby

Include lighting fixture choices
Include acoustical treatment for auditorium
Include seating choices with dimensions, placement, etc.

2) Specifications on all of above products and materials
3) Reflected ceiling plan(s)
4) Section of your theatre
5) Research information and process work
6) Design concept statement and/or tie in to historical significance with Bauhaus
7) If you are using a lot of glass in your design, turn in research on what glass you are using (solar treated)
8) Some of you are bringing some of your own additions to the project. That's great and can only help your grade.
Everything printed in color 11 x17 (no staples) for turn in to department.

Everything burned to CD for turn in to me.

We will present work on the overhead projector.

Blog for Week 10...

This will be the final original blog for the class, however, I will post again next week as a reminder to finish outstanding blogs and to list again the deliverables for the final projects.

This week's blog topic (wide variety- choose 1 through 4 or more if you like):

(1) Do some research on projections and patterns in light. You will have the most luck obviously in performance lighting, but also look for architectural lighting's use of projections. (2) You can and should also look for designers and professionals who have used or are known for addressing patterns and projections and similar techniques in their lighting. (3) Designers who have worked in both the theatrical lighting and architectural lighting professions. (4) Lighting Designers who are specifically addressing sustainable or Universal design principles.

A few examples of designers (in no particular order) you are welcome to bring to the blog are Josef Svoboda, Abhay Wadhwa, Stefan Graf and Naomi Miller.

HOW CAN YOU TIE PROJECTIONS AND LIGHTING TO THE BAUHAUS? WHAT ABOUT BAUHAUS DESIGNERS WHO MIGHT HAVE USED LIGHT?

Blog for Week 9...

For this Week's Blog, I am not going to post a specific assignment. I want you that have not done so, to go back to last week's (WK8) and do that. For everyone else, I want each of you to find a different topic on lighting that you find interesting from online or hard copy periodicals. Present these as if doing a book report on the blog.

Remember to look at last week's posting for Week 9 deliverables.
